With love to all.
Thinking of you always, sorry for your loss of Nick x x 🙏🙏
Dear Opa,
It’s not goodbye—because I already know you’re watching down on me.
Your kindness, your patience, and your endless willingness to teach and help others will live on in everyone who ever knew you.
You were the quiet strength behind so many of our memories, and that strength still guides us today.
The times we went yabbying, you teaching me to ride a horse, playing Black Queen, and all of life’s lessons in between—these memories live on forever.
They are part of who I am, and they’ll always remind me of the love and laughter you gave so freely.
Nan, whether you think it’s a good thing or not 😉 I am marrying someone who is just like Opa.
From his curly hairy chest to his generosity and selflessness, your love and upbringing helped shape the person I chose to spend my life with.
That’s no coincidence—it’s a legacy.
I will miss him dearly, but he is with me always.
Love Jessica
xx
Condolences to Sue and family on the passing of Nick.
A lovely man I remember from back in Primary School Days ❤️❤️
To Aunty Sue, Julie, Linda, Sandra and David, and your extended families.
Sending you all big hugs and love.
I remember Uncle Nick being able to entertain and have fun, but also to help anyone in times of need, no questions asked.. myself included, even though I hadn’t seen him in years, I’ll never forget his kindness and willingness to help me. It meant a lot.
From yabbying, swimming in dams, adventures in the orange bus, word games, playing games like eating apples dangling from strings, fishing things out of buckets filled with water by dunking our heads in.. singing minus ones ( I think that was the karaoke name back then!) some of my best childhood memories are spent at 10 Pine Ave around Uncle Nick, Aunty Sue, Julie, David, Linda and Sandra.
So I send you all my love.
Remember the fun times.
I’m sure he’ll find a pool partner up there to make run around the table!
Love,
Michelle
Nick,
Farewell good friend, you will always live on in the memories I have of you, your strength, which whenever the occasion arose, you would put to good use. Especially when Michelle and myself were moving house you somehow made yourself available without hesitation.
For many years you volunteered setting up and dismantling bingo and church fetes (you even roped me in; it was a good feeling).
I appreciated your help and guidance in our time together as paperboys.
We always felt at ease with each other, even when we hadn’t seen each other for some time. That’s Gold!
Sue, to you, the Grootveld family and all your extended families, my heartfelt sympathy on your loss of Nick, now at peace in his veggie garden.
Love “Uncle Hans”
Nico,
May God give you peace and rest into his arms.
Condolences to Sue and family with love and God’s blessings.
Tony and Trudy💕🙏
Dearest Sue and family,
The short time that I knew Nick I could see he was a gentleman.
A man that did not sit back but helped if he could for no reward.
Very sad to hear of his passing.
Condolences to you Sue and your family.
May Nick rest in heavenly peace.
