As we knew Peter from the bustling, busy, hectic and a totally chaotic days in Alice Springs with Peter in charge of a daily coach company and ourselves with a small Cultural Exchange operating 7 days, we got to know Peter and Denise and your girls Lillian and Ingrid by somehow managing to fit in a rare social get together now and again which was always fun and joyful with our 3 children Tristan, Sheena and Pirrenee in tow.
We have wonderful memories of you all and especially when you last visited us at our property in SA to catch up on the previous 20 or so years since leaving NT.
It was just yourself and Peter possibly 5 or 6 years ago maybe and we had hoped to visit you in Portarlington.
Today, tomorrow and the weeks and months ahead will not be easy to adjust to life without having Peter in it.
He was a true gentleman and loving husband and father to be sure.
We are with you in spirit dear Denise.
You have your beautiful girls and grandchildren around you who no doubt help you to heal in time.
We will meet up again down the track and hope to share some more good memories of past times and new.
Much Love to you all… Rod and Debbie Steinert

  13. I’m very grateful I was able to meet you Peter.
Even though the time I knew you for wasn’t the biggest amount of time, the impact you managed to give me and my choices will carry on through me for the rest of my life.
You and Denise are one of the most whole hearted people I’ve ever met and still are.
I hope you enjoy your travels around the world for the rest of your afterlife I’m sure you will.

We were very sorry to hear of Peter’s passing. We knew Peter through our children. He was always kind and friendly, and we enjoyed his visits to our home during the Christmas holidays when Georgie and Nico were home.
He always appreciated a Greek coffee and biscuit and shared a warm conversation.

Our thoughts are with Denise and the family at this sad time.

  16. Nico and Georgie Drijver

We’ve known Peter for nearly 30 years.
He wasn’t just a friend. He was like a Dutch uncle, especially to Nico. He gave Nico the chance to speak Dutch, share memories of Holland, and feel a connection to his roots.

We shared many Dutch meals with Peter and Denise over the years, and we celebrated Sinterklaas together when our children were young.
Those moments meant a lot to us.

Their visit to us in Mackay, with the caravan, was something we’ll never forget. It was a special time, especially because Nico’s family was visiting from Texel, NL.

Peter always had a story to tell about places he’d been, people he’d met, or things he’d learned. He made us want to travel more and look at the world with fresh eyes.

When we look back, Peter was there for so many of life’s important moments for us.

We will miss you dearly, Peter.

Our love and deepest condolences to Denise and the family.

  17. Craig and Raden

Peter has gone from your sight, but never from your hearts: a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
To know Peter was an honour.
    A life well lived.
    You will be greatly missed.
